C1 Staffing is hiring an experienced Cook II for a short-term contract assignment in Kansas City, MO, preparing hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catered events. The role pays $18.62 per hour with overtime at $26.07 per hour, and it is a fast-start opportunity for a cook who is ready to step into a busy kitchen right away.
What you will do:
- Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items- Support multiple meal periods throughout the assignment, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner service- Assist with special and catered events as they are scheduled- Work at a pace that meets volume and timing expectations without sacrificing quality- Plate and present food to the standards set by the kitchen- Follow all food safety and sanitation requirements, including proper handling, temperatures, and storage- Keep your station clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift- Communicate with the kitchen team to keep service moving smoothly during peak periods
Schedule and pay:
- $18.62 per hour, with overtime paid at $26.07 per hour- Shift runs 8:00am to 2:30pm- Approximately 40 hours per week- Short-term contract assignment- Paid weekly
What you will need:
- Must be 18 or older- Prior cooking experience in a high-volume kitchen setting- Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and presentation standards- Ability to stand and work on your feet for the full shift in a busy, warm kitchen environment- Comfort lifting, carrying, and moving food product and kitchen supplies as part of normal prep and service- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with portioning and plating- Reliable attendance and the ability to start on schedule- A team-first attitude and the willingness to jump in where the kitchen needs help
