C1 Staffing is hiring an experienced Senior General Maintenance Worker for a client site in Emory, VA (24327). This is a hands-on, multi-trade role on a steady Monday through Friday day shift at $16.39 per hour, paid weekly.
This position supports the upkeep of an active campus, including dorm rooms, classrooms, and other buildings. You will work across several trades, so prior general maintenance experience is required. The assignment is a contract role with the potential to become ongoing or contract-to-hire for the right person.
What you will do:- Maintain and repair dorm rooms, classrooms, and campus buildings- Paint interior and exterior surfaces and complete flooring repairs- Perform plumbing repairs and routine plumbing upkeep- Handle basic electrical repairs and maintenance- Perform HVAC repairs and preventive upkeep- Respond to emergency calls and support urgent tasks as they come up- Check in with the maintenance manager each morning to receive daily assignments- Work safely and professionally in occupied buildings where students and staff are present
Schedule and pay:- $16.39 per hour- Overtime paid at $22.95 per hour- Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm- 40 hours per week- Paid weekly by C1 Staffing
What you will need:- Must be 18 or older- Prior hands-on general maintenance experience is required- Comfortable working across multiple trades, including painting, flooring, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC- Able to work in an occupied campus setting and interact respectfully with building occupants- Able to perform physical maintenance work, including standing and walking for the full shift, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching overhead, and lifting and carrying tools and materials- Reliable attendance and a safety-first mindset- Willingness to respond to emergency and urgent maintenance requests during your shift- Dress code: slip-resistant shoes, clean pants, and a clean shirt. A work shirt will be provided after you start
This is a good fit if you have spent time doing real maintenance work and like variety in your day. One morning you may be patching and painting a dorm room, and that afternoon you could be chasing down a plumbing leak or checking an HVAC unit. You will get your assignments from the maintenance manager each morning, then work through them with a reasonable amount of independence.
