C1 Staffing is hiring a Cook I to support banquet and event service in a ballroom kitchen in Austin, Texas, zip code 78702. The role pays $20.00 per hour, paid weekly.
What you will do:- Prepare hot and cold menu items for ballroom events, following recipes, portion sizes, and plate presentation standards set by the kitchen leadership.- Work the line during banquet service, cooking to ticket and keeping food moving so plated courses leave the kitchen on time and at the right temperature.- Handle basic prep work such as washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning proteins, produce, starches, and sauces ahead of scheduled events.- Operate standard commercial kitchen equipment including ranges, flat tops, convection ovens, fryers, steamers, slicers, and mixers.- Set up and break down your station, stock it with the products and tools needed for the day's event, and restock between courses or functions.- Monitor and record food temperatures, label and date product, rotate stock, and follow safe food handling practices at every step.- Clean as you go and complete end-of-shift duties, including wiping down surfaces, breaking down equipment, sweeping and mopping, and taking out trash.- Communicate with the chef, banquet captains, and fellow cooks about ticket counts, timing changes, special dietary requests, and product shortages.
Schedule and pay:- Pay is $20.00 per hour.- Paid weekly by C1 Staffing.
What you will need:- You must be 18 years of age or older.- Comfort working in a fast-paced kitchen where event timing drives the pace and volume can change quickly.- Ability to stand and walk for the full shift, bend, reach, and move between stations in a hot kitchen environment.- Ability to lift and carry kitchen items such as stock pots, sheet pans, cases of product, and hotel pans with or without reasonable accommodation.- Knife skills and familiarity with standard commercial cooking equipment.- Attention to detail on portioning, plating, and food safety, including temperature checks and proper storage.- Dependability on scheduled event dates, since banquet kitchens staff to a fixed guest count.- Willingness to take direction from kitchen leadership and work as part of a team during service.
