C1 Staffing is hiring a Cook II in Portland, Maine, to prepare, portion, cook, and present hot and cold food items across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catered events. The role pays $21.07 per hour with overtime at $29.50 per hour, on a steady afternoon shift running 1pm to 7pm.
What you will do:- Prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods- Support breakfast service, including items that need to be prepped or held for early meal periods- Cook and plate lunch and dinner service to the standards set by the kitchen- Produce food for special events and catered functions alongside regular daily service- Work accurately and efficiently so each meal period hits its timeline without delays- Portion consistently and present plates and serving pans neatly and uniformly- Follow food safety and sanitation practices throughout prep, cooking, holding, and cleanup- Keep your station organized, stocked, and clean during and after service
Schedule and pay:- $21.07 per hour, paid weekly- Overtime paid at $29.50 per hour- Shifts run 1pm to 7pm- Averaging 24 hours per week- Contract assignment with ongoing and contract-to-hire potential for cooks who perform well
What you will need:- Must be 18 or older- Hands-on cooking experience across multiple meal periods, such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner- Comfort working on your feet for the length of the shift in a fast-paced kitchen environment- Attention to detail in portioning, presentation, and food safety- Ability to work accurately under meal period deadlines, including during special and catered events- Required personal protective gear: non-slip shoes and a cut-resistant glove
