C1 Staffing is hiring a Cook I for a busy kitchen in Austin, TX (78712), preparing and cooking food for high-volume service. The role pays $19.00 per hour, paid weekly.
What you will do:- Prepare and cook menu items to order, following standardized recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards- Work hot line stations such as grill, fryer, flat top, and oven during service, keeping up with ticket times- Complete prep work ahead of service, including washing, chopping, slicing, and portioning proteins, produce, and sides- Check and record food temperatures during cooking, holding, and cooling to keep items in safe ranges- Label, date, and rotate stock using first in, first out so product stays fresh and waste stays low- Keep your station clean and organized throughout the shift, wiping surfaces, changing sanitizer, and breaking down equipment at close- Receive and put away deliveries, stock coolers and dry storage, and let the lead cook or chef know when items run low- Follow all food safety, allergen, and sanitation procedures set by the kitchen and support the team with dish and cleaning tasks as needed

What you will need:- Must be 18 years or older- Previous cooking experience in a restaurant, catering, venue, institutional, or similar high-volume kitchen- Comfort working hot line equipment including grills, fryers, flat tops, and ovens- Knife skills and the ability to follow recipes, prep lists, and portion specs accurately- Understanding of basic food safety practices, including temperature control, cross contamination, and sanitation- Ability to stand and walk for the full shift, bend, reach, and lift and carry pans, cases, and kitchen supplies- Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment around steam, open flame, and wet floors- Strong communication and teamwork, with the ability to take direction from the chef or lead cook during service- Dependability and on-time attendance, especially for shifts tied to event and service times
