C1 Staffing is hiring a Cook I for a short-term, contract-to-hire kitchen assignment in San Jose, CA, focused on Latin cuisine. Pay is 25.75 dollars per hour, paid weekly, on a consistent early-morning schedule.
This role is built for a cook who knows Latin food and can hold a steady pace through a busy morning service. You will be on the line and on prep, working from recipes and keeping your station clean and stocked from open through the end of service. Strong performers on this assignment may be considered for a permanent position with the client.
What you will do:- Prepare and cook Latin dishes to recipe specifications and quality standards- Handle daily prep work including chopping, seasoning, and portioning ingredients- Stock and restock your station so service runs without delays- Keep work stations clean, sanitary, and organized throughout the shift- Follow all food safety and food handling guidelines, including proper storage and temperature practices- Work alongside the kitchen team during peak morning volume and communicate clearly on tickets and timing- Assist with end-of-shift cleaning and station breakdown
Schedule and pay:- 25.75 dollars per hour, paid weekly- Overtime paid at 36.05 dollars per hour- Shift runs 6:00am to 2:30pm- Averages about 24 hours per week- Short-term contract-to-hire assignment with potential for a permanent role based on performance
What you will need:- Must be 18 or older- Prior cooking experience, ideally with Latin cuisine- Ability to stand for the full shift, lift, and move at a fast pace in a working kitchen- Comfort with an early-morning start and reliable day-to-day attendance- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices- Team-first attitude with clear, direct communication on the line
