C1 Staffing is hiring a Cashier - Food Service Worker for a cafe and foodservice operation in New York, NY 10017. This is a daytime, Monday through Friday assignment paying $22.00 per hour, with a start date of October 6, 2026.
This role supports both the foodservice and retail side of a busy coffee shop environment. You will spend your day behind the espresso machine, on the service line, at the register, and keeping the space clean and well stocked. Cafe and barista experience is required by the client for this position.
What you will do:- Prepare espresso-based coffee beverages, including lattes and cappuccinos, for customers in a fast-paced cafe setting- Assist at the register/POS during service hours and accurately process customer transactions- Assist with setup and serving of food from counters and steam tables, and heat and prepare food items following proper food safety and handling procedures- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and service areas, including sweeping and mopping floors- Collect and dispose of trash and recycling according to proper procedures- Restock supplies, food, beverages, and other products, and keep the storage area organized with items properly labeled and shelved- Assist with inventory by counting, labeling, and tracking products and supplies, and support receiving and storing deliveries safely and accurately- Complete daily cleanup and closing duties and follow all safety, sanitation, and food handling guidelines
Schedule and pay:- $22.00 per hour, paid weekly- Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM to 3:45 PM- Friday, 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM- Start date: October 6, 2026- Temporary assignment covering an employee replacement until further notice
What you will need:- Must be 18 or older- Cafe and barista experience is required, including hands-on experience preparing espresso-based beverages such as lattes and cappuccinos- Previous experience in a coffee shop, cafe, foodservice, custodial, or similar role- Basic knowledge of heating and preparing food for service- Cash register/POS experience preferred- Familiarity with basic inventory, stocking, and organization practices- Strong customer service skills and the ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness- Reliable, dependable, and able to follow directions, with a positive, team-oriented attitude- Must be able to complete E-Verify employment eligibility verification
